The Melbourne GP is the first race on the World Circuit. That, is about the extent of my knowledge!!
Apart from that - it is very loud, very busy, very big and very well organised!!
So, I rock up to gate 5 - get my ticket and start my trek to the action!!
I think every known car enthusiast AND their car were there!
I made my way to the official merchandise tent and was on the hunt for the "Red Bull" tent so that I could support the WA boy Daniel Ricardo - somewhere around here I decided that I should buy a hat - and got a panama hat to fit in with everyone else!!
I took a leaf out of Jessi's picture album and took a "selfy"!!
I crossed the river via the "pontoon bridge" (which was like walking on the trampoline - only on water!) and found even more stuff - well more cars actually!
The porsche Carrera Cup had just finished and it was here I found Mark Skaiffe - who has just started driving the porches this year.
Although Skaiffy did not win - it seemed everyone only had eyes for him!!
It was the Jet Travel Insurance car that won! His mascot "Gopher" was pretty excited!!
I witnesses a pretty brilliant show by the RAAF ROULETTES - and watched to the end to see them "wave" bye bye!!
I gradually made my way trackside and set up camp under the QANTAS walkover bridge - about 100m from the pits and start line! It was then that I realised I would need earplugs to stay for an extended period of time - but this was not an issue - after I had seen the same cars go round and round every 13 seconds - I was over it!!
So, I made my way back across the pontoon bridge, where the black swans were sharing the water with some little sail boats, the Peter Brock Tribute Car - where not one piece of vehicle was left untouched - ever the brake pads had been written on and by pure chance came across "Lightning McQueen"!!
It was a very busy day, I was sunburnt, my feet were very very sore and I really wanted a salad sandwich!
So - it was back to the apartment as I still has washing to do!!
