Rainbow Jelly Eggs!

Yes - that's right.........................

I want to make these!!!!!

So - I get myself set up!

Egg  "shells" - Check
Jelly - Check
Black 'gaffa' tape and blutak - Check!  Wait - WHAT!!

Well you see - there are holes at the top and bottom of each egg - how is the liquid jelly mix supposed to stay inside the egg - if there is a hole for it to go outside the egg!!!

Bring on the blutak for the hole at the bottom - the 'gaffa' tape to go round the centre of the egg to stop leakage from the 'join' and we are set to go!!

You would think I would give up by now!!!

Today - as it is my first time - I will limit this exercise to just FOUR colours.  This is without doubt the smartest thing I did in relation to making "Rainbow Jelly Eggs"

With a 20ml syringe - I squirt around 5-10ml of liquid jelly flavour #1 into each egg!  Then place it in the specially purchased easter egg carton to solidify!!

I repeat the above process with jelly flavour #2 some 20mins later, and again and again and again and again and again - oh - probably too many agains!!  But, by the last layer - I had had enough!!

So - did it work???

Well - you be the judge!!

To get the egg out of the 'shell' - I peeled off the gaffa tape, picked off the blutak and ran some warm water over the egg.  Having sprayed the inside of each egg prior to 'gaffa lock down' - getting the eggs out was much easier then getting them in!!

They were not pretty and most of them split in the middle - but there were fun!!

Funnily enough - "They taste like JELLY Mum!!!!"

Thank goodness for that!!

It would seem there are two ways to eat Rainbow Jelly Eggs!!

One is to just 'hoover' it up from the bowl
or
the more dainty approach is to shove the whole egg into your mouth from your slightly cupped hand!

While I made Rainbow Jelly Eggs - the kids decorate the chooks egg with some templates that I found in Melbourne!!  This was also a bit of fun - and a bit messy!!!

Thankfully - there was no breakages!!

Food we love to make and then devour!

Apart from Fried Fritz!!

Home made WAFFLES!!
These ones have chocolate chips and mini marshmallows in them - just perfect with icecream!!

Home made "LCM" bars!
Rice Bubbles, melted chocolate, crushed nuts - and some other things I cant remember and topped with yummy coloured chocolate drops on top!!

Cake Pops!!
These were so much fun to make!!!  Thank heavens we bought something that came with styrofoam packaging!!  Best way to hold them up!!

These are made with cake crumbs mixed with icing sugar and Philly (cream) Cheese.  Then dip in melted chocolate and decorate!!

Home Made Ice Cream Sandwiches!!!
So very easy to make - these ones are 'crunchie' flavour.  Simple as beating cream and sweetened condensed milk together - crushing up your 'flavour' - ie Crunchie Bars or Peppermint Crisps etc mixing and the pouring into lined container.  I used Malt-o-Milk biscuits - but you could use what ever ones you want I suppose!

Yummo!!  Egg and Bacon Pie!!
I know, I know - Quiche by any other name!!
Made with eggs from our very own chickens, roasted onions & cherry tomatoes, mixed with some flavoursome parmesan cheese and pan fried bacon.

Cook in the oven - and EAT!!

Sharwarma. Yiros. Souvlaki. Kebab!!

No matter what you call it - it is always so nice to make your own!!
Slow roasted lamb that has been marinating in garlic, lemon, rosemary, olive oil and paprika.  Served on warm (preferably greek bread) pita bread, with home made tabouli and tzaziki (I still have not managed to make my own hommous!).
A decent squeeze of lemon juice, wrap and EAT!!!

Sloppy Joes!!

This one is a real favourite of ours!!!
What makes Sloppy Joes different to Spaghetti Bolognese??  Well - the herbs and spices are different, there's also chilli - oh - and maybe the brown sugar makes a difference!!!

Just like our bolognese sauce - we hide vegies in there - but then after cooking it slowly for a few hours, you serve it on fresh bread with yummy coleslaw and tasty grated cheese and you have..............................

THIS!!!!
Word of warning - it does taste much nicer then it looks and having more then one - will make you go past being FULL!!!

We love a big Brekkie!!

More often then not it includes:
Bacon
Latkes - or Potato Cakes as the kids call them
Tomatoes - either grilled with a yummy cheesy topping or pan fried with red onions and balsamic vinegar

Sometimes - we add a yummy continental sausage, baked beans and eggs!!

It keeps up going all day!!
It takes all day to work it off!!!

Banana Caramel Muffins ............
for the kids lunch boxes - if they last that long!!

the little circles of yumminess on the right are - mini banana donuts!!

Coconut and Almond Macaroons!!

reminds me - I must find that recipe.................................

Breakfast in Bed!

Well a menu for it at least!

On my first weekend home from the trip to Melbourne - Emi thought it would be nice to make me breakfast in bed.

This is the menu.
Needless to say - I chose "Backe and Back Been" - which is Bacon and Baked Beans!!

Soooooo....... It's been a month since I returned from Melbourne!!

What has happened in that time??

Well I could say nothing - but that's not true! Some stuff has happened - but really life has gone back to normal.

Within a week of returning from Melbourne it was school holidays - so it was full on with the kids at home ALL DAY!!

There was very little time between each disagreement or argument. There was very little time between each request for food or drinks or change the channel on the TV or change the DVD or make more playdoh or the endless other requests that come with having the kids home.

It did however seem to take A VERY VERY long time between waking up and going to sleep!!

One of the very first "exciting" events to happen after coming home was

Blue Tongue Twisties!! We found them at the 7/11's in Melbourne, not far from the Slurpee machines!!

Yup - they come out of the bag orange, they have a cheese flavour - but when you eat them your mouth, tongue and even your gums turn BLUE!!

We had the dog and cats eating them too - just to see if it worked on animals - and YES it does! That allowed for much laughter and endless minutes of trying to get a photo of the dog with her tongue - to no avail!!

Only the kids were silly enough to stick out their tongue for a photo - inbetween running to the mirror to check of course!!
