Jessi is 13!!
On the 10th June – Jess celebrated a ‘milestone’! Becoming a TEENAGER!!
The kids made her some birthday cards and I made her a ‘black & white’ cake as per her request.
Here is my attempt to make some magic music symbols! Printed them off – stuck them to the bench and then using melted white chocolate with lots of black food colouring – I slowly and almost painfully piped the chocolate onto baking paper that was covering the symbols.
A naked Topsy Turvy cake – I figured if it was already wonky – it would not make a difference when I was finished with it!!
White Cream Cheese Icing and Black Cream Cheese Icing
My best icing writing!!
Wow – only 13 candles but it lights up!!
The kids waiting to blow out the candles!!
Make a wish Jess!
“DO I have to have my photo taken with the cake!!”
Yay for black icing!!!
Looks like she has brushed her teeth with the good old fashioned “Victorian Era” Toothpaste!
Some other June Photos.
Coop and Daddy
Emi – just a little plum tuckered out!!
Silly faces!!
Coop getting his hair cut!
Look!! It’s a real boy!!
Now its Emi’s turn!
TaDa!!
The Mount Isa Agricultural Show
From the 25 – 27th June 2010 – the local show was held at the showgrounds (coz you wouldn’t have it anywhere else?)
It is only a small show – limited show rides and show bags! ( so limited that on day 1 – they were sold out by lunchtime!!). There is a limited amount of “Animal” exhibits, but; many of us make an effort to enter our crafts and wares for the hope of winning some recognition for our talent!
Emi and Dad on the “Dogems” – which naturally means - “Hitem & Smashem”
She does love it though!
Something new for me – taking photos of the horse events.
Timing is everything – not only for the photo taking.
Jess & and couple of her friends went on the “NO LIMIT” – it seemed like a good idea at the time!!
That's Jess with the crossed legs – 2nd from the left!
“HI JESS”
That’s Jess – on the left!
That’s Jess’ hair – 2nd on the left on far side.
After the show – the kids STILL had plenty of energy!
One of my favourite photos of Emi at the moment
Silly bugger!
What I Entered In The Show.
I entered quite few photos in the show and hoped that some would be recognised as good or great. I came away with a SECOND and a THIRD.
Pretty happy with that!!
Here is just a few of the images I entered.
Animal Category.
Group Category.
Any Subject – Digitally Enhanced.
This is Grahams favourite.
Any Other Subject.
This category was tough. There was at least 150 entries and of all of them – this photo came SECOND!!
Any Water or Land View.
This is the rail bridge on the way from Townsville to Charters Towers. It was really quite magnificent – however I fear I personally would pass out if I had to be on the train that went over it!!
Portrait Section.
Plant Section.
Plant Section – Digitally Enhanced
This one came THIRD.
I aim to one day have each of the black & white images put onto canvas’ for placing on our walls. Unless of course I take more photos of other colourful wildflowers!!
V8 Supercars
The V8 Supercars came for a ‘pit stop’ on their way from Darwin to Townsville.
However, the kids were far more interested in the ceramic lions!!
Lunar Eclipse
June 26 saw the first of two Partial Lunar Eclipses for 2010. The next will be on 21st December ( a very significant date in our household). Two weeks later there was a Solar Eclipse over the South Pacific.
According to a Wikipedia entry “This eclipse is a part of Lunar Saros 120 series, repeating every 18 years and 10 days, last occurring on June 15, 1992, and will next repeat on July 6, 2028. This series is winding down: The final total eclipse of this series was on May 14, 1938 and the final partial lunar eclipse will be on July 28, 2064.” ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2010_lunar_eclipse)
